EHCP Wizard - Frequently Asked Questions

๐Ÿง  What is an EHCP request letter?

An EHCP request letter is a formal written request to your Local Authority asking them to carry out an Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA) for your child. It's the first step in securing an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), which outlines the support your child is legally entitled to.

๐Ÿ“ Can I make an EHCP request myself?

Yes. Any parent, carer, or young person aged 16โ€“25 can make a request directly to their Local Authority. EHCP Wizard helps by preparing a professionally written, legally referenced draft so you can feel confident your request is clear, thorough, and taken seriously.

โฐ How long does the process take?

After you send your EHCP request letter, your Local Authority has six weeks to decide whether to carry out an assessment. If they agree, the whole process usually takes up to 20 weeks to complete.

๐Ÿ“ฉ When will I receive my draft letter?

Once you've submitted your form, we'll review your answers and prepare your draft EHCP request letter within 12โ€“24 hours. It will be sent directly to the email address you provided on the form.

๐Ÿงพ Will this guarantee that my child gets an EHCP?

No. Submitting a request does not guarantee an EHCP will be granted. Our service helps you create a strong, well-evidenced draft letter that meets the requirements of the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice (2015), but the final decision rests with your Local Authority.

๐Ÿ”’ Is my information confidential?

Yes. Your information is stored securely and used only for the purpose of preparing your draft letter. We will never share your personal details with anyone else.
